HĀNA AND HALEAKALĀ FLIGHTSEEING TOUR:

Rise above rainbows and let your spirits soar as you experience a 45-minute tour of Maui’s most famous locales – Hāna and Haleakalā – in one spectacular flight.  The lush forested valleys and ridges that surround Hāna are home to a multitude of waterfalls; thundering cascades, misty bridal veils, and multi-tiered drops.  The rugged beauty of the Hāna coastline – pounding surf dashing against jagged lava amid swaying coconut palms – is in stark contrast to the moonscape of red and ochre cinder cones that characterizes Haleakalā.  The summit of this lofty volcano, 10,023-feet high, is home to billowing clouds and numerous Hawaiian legends.  Nature presents a constantly changing parade of colors across the craggy crater environs.

In the heart of this mountain fortress stands Pu‘u Kukui: her 5,788-foot high summit is one of the wettest spots on earth.  Waterfalls spill over sheer cliffs, ending in misty explosions hundreds of feet below.  Porous lava walls glisten with trickling rivulets like a giant face moist with tears.  The rugged beauty of the West Maui Mountains awaits.

SURFING OR STANDUP PADDLE BOARD LESSONS:

“Lets go surfing now, everybody’s learning how…” Hawai‘i’s distinguished sportsman Duke Kahanamoku used surfing as part of his training regime, earning Olympic gold medals in the process.  Gidget and Moondoggy loved to “shoot the curl”, introducing a curious television-viewing nation to a healthy new lifestyle.  The legendary Bud Brown captured the search for an Endless Summer on film.  Bart Simpson made “cowabunga” part of the American lexicon.  Early explorers to Hawai‘i marveled at the “natives frolicking and playing for countless hours in the surf as easily as we walk down a street”.  Surfing is Hawai‘i’s gift to the sports world.

Papa he‘e nalu, riding a wave, is an experience that once enjoyed will never be forgotten.  It’s a feeling of being connected to the ocean, a feeling of kinship and freedom.  Maui’s no ka ‘oi - the best – local beachboys perpetuate this ancient sport with aloha and a safety-first attitude. Their patient and comprehensive instructional method will get you up and “hanging ten” in no time.  Grab your board, surf’s up!
