Before Alma found Kynect, she was cleaning hotels for a living in Houston. Her biggest wish was to be in a position to help others, including her 5 children and 5 grandchildren. The solution, in Alma’s eyes, was to find a job that would pay her at least $9 an hour.

That’s it. To Alma, an income just above minimum wage would be enough to make a difference. And then, something unexpected completely changed the course of her life.

When Alma learned about Kynect, she sensed it would be a gift to her family. “It sounded like Kynect could help us, and would allow me to help others, but I didn’t understand how right away,” she explains.

She wasn’t familiar with the industry, but inexperience wouldn’t stand in her way. She kept a positive attitude and her sights set squarely on her vision of a better life for her family. That, she said, allowed her to succeed and made her a better person.

Alma says, “Kynect has been my teacher, my therapy, my counselor.”

Alma has been recognized consistently for her leadership and fighting spirit. She was the 2019 recipient of the Rising Woman of Power Award and a 300 Club member. Next, she’s focused on National Director.

“I am prepared and ready to tackle that goal!” she says.
